laptop wont recognize sd cards ,any ideas

my laptop crashed 3 weeks ago, blue screen then would only start up in safe mode ,ive got it back to almost 100% but for some reason it wont read sd cards , which is a bummer for photos and the like, it will read usb memory cards but not the sd,s.any help on this would be a big help, thanks in advance.;)

go get the drivers for your mediacard reader again

Go to control panel then system then device manager.
Look for any devices with a Yellow "!" or red "X"

right click and pick update driver software.
Hopefully it will find the driver for you if not check the cd's that came with the machine or the Manuf website.

Found these to be troublesome at the best of times, had 2 give up the ghost on me on 2 different laptop's , had same driver issues etc, in the end i got fed up trying to fix them every time i put a card in so picked up a €2 usb card reader from the €2 shop and it hasnt let me down yet and nif it does ill get another one

thats a great help lads, it wouldnt update from the net ,im just going to run the cd that came with laptop if that fails it will be ok ill just do what calex71 suggests and get 1 of the cheapo card readers.once again guys thanks as always simple answers for simple questions by simple people lol.

Almanu , i ment to add earlier that when i was having my problems i used a program called radarsync to find the drivers for me, as i didnt have the cd .

might be worth a shot.
