A couple of very interesting games here, the Windies v India could be an absolute corker if Gayle is in the mood. Gotta fancy India to take it though.

Likewise a lot depends in the other game on Afridi, if he bowls like he did against Holland, it could be very close. Sri Lanka to win though

Agree with India/Sri Lanka wins. Hopefully a couple of closer games than today.

Wasn't Gayle in a bit of pain there a couple of days ago, will he make the game?,

it would be a big loss to lose Gayle,

but both these games I'm really excited about,

but you would expect India and Sri Lanka to win no?...

I think SL will walk all over Pakistan. Both teams will be going for massive totals right from word go, and SL has the upper hand on both batting and bowling.

India might have slightly more work to do against WI - not because WI will play well, but its because Indians tend to slow down when not challenged.

I think SL are the team to beat at the moment. I reckon by order of form (NZ vs England position is tough)

    Sri Lanka
    India
    Pakistan
West Indies (with Gayle on form)
    South Africa
    New Zealand
    England
    Ireland

    I disagree.
I'd put SA WAAAYYYY above Pakistan and the Windies.
And IMO India own this tournament.
Pakistans underwhelming pace attack and Woeful fielding are big big sticking points. Good bat, great spin.
I think England are better than they have been.

    India
    Sri Lanka
    SA
    Windies
    England
    Pakistan
    New Zealand
    Ireland.

    For me.

I would put a fiver Ireland probably won't be the last in the super 8 when its all over. With run rates etc considered, it could be WI, or even Pakistan or may be England. That's just my gut feeling now..!

I would have agreed with this about 3 years ago but this team is a more youthful and vibrant team and Dhoni as captain although always looks laid back is an excellent and more astute captain. this team isnt allowed to become complacent

SL batting first - my guestimate they would score between 180 - 220! :p

Just back from a meeting - and wtf, 150? How did Pakistan tie SL down to 150? Now that's some miracle!! Now at 36/3, can they pull yet another miracle?

d'Oracle, Washout, I hope you both are right! I want India to destroy the WI tonight!!

Malinga steps in and takes two wickets in his first over. What a player.

    One was a run out.
And was mainly because Akmal forgot to run.

Excellent fight back from Pakistan. But 101/4, and requiring 50 out of 27 is looking hard to reach.. but who knows, this is cricket!

All in a sudden SL doesn't look all that mighty to me today..!

PS: I take all that back. Muthaya smelled the coffee and is on rampage..!

He is still a world class bowler.

    Pakistan 139/9 in 20.0 overs.

    SL won by 19 runs.

That was tighter than I expected. Pakistan pulled some tricks out of the bag, but SL came back in the last 10 overs and took the game back and that's that. Better than expected from Pakistan. WTF to SL?

All over, Sri Lanka win by 19 runs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,025 ✭✭✭d'Oracle

And Pakistan gave away 20 extras......
    Sloppy.

Okay, here we go again - India Vs WI.

Indians chose to bat first. I would like to see a 200, but I'll predict a 170 and an okay win for India.

Very good total for Yuvraj Singh, really settled the boat, 54 coming from 4 overs, very nicely done (14,15,16,17)

    153 for 20 overs...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,430 ✭✭✭positron

I was hoping for 170, but I am glad they reached 150 after that start. Dhoni 11 out of 23 balls? WTF? That's bad even for a traditional one-day!!

Indians have their work cut out now to try and win this..! Hope the pitch helps the spinners like it did for SL!

    Bravo!

They really turned it on at the end. Odd to Gayle only score 22 from 28.

Bravo = next Windies captain. And for a day at least, England arent bottom of the group.
