Surprised with the package for Aus/SA, I wouldn't have thought they'd have any problem shifting these, I've always assumed the packages are to ensure they sell the less glamorous games like Italy.

By the way - the e-mail I got said that this represents great news for the Irish rugby supporter because of the wonderful value on offer.

yes, if i want to go to one game i have to buy a ticket for 3. trip to dublin from cork, accomodation, food etc...

can't afford that cost by 3.

It's pretty inconsiderate alright when you put it like that. Is there no avenue at all that the tickets are available individually?

The clubs and supporters clubs outside Dublin should put together some kind of scheme that pairs people up to allow them to go to 1 or 2 games, would be relatively easy to administer as just an introduction/facilitation. As in - Hi Johnny, this is Mickey he wants to go to the Italy game, that you're not going to and leave it at that, don't get involved with how they sort themselves out.

It works out as 35euro per game hardly unreasonable for 6 nations games.

Don't forget, that those prices are PER GAME, but must be bought in a pack of 3.

€105 for terrace, and you have to buy 3 = €315 for 6 nations game! (honours maths in leaving cert).

IRFU can go fu*k themselves!! I feel sick after reading that. It was bad enough last season, but I think I have been to my last ever Irish rugby international match. And to be honest, i couldn't give a fu*k. For the price of 2 games I've gotten 12 games with Leinster and first options at realistic prices for a whole host of massive games. Why the fu*k would I pay for that sh*t??

The IRFU seem nonchalantly unaware of the fact that this country is in the midst of quite a massive recession. €105 for a terrace ticket? €105!!! Eh... go f*ck yourselves.

I think it's per package as well, they're hardly charging E40 less for Australia than they are for Italy.

I think it 105 for the 3 games so it is 3\105=35 each.....
    Not bad tbh.

I didn't believe it but looks like this is true. Substantial price cuts, not increases...
IRFU entice fans to internationals with Croke Park ticket price cuts

PREMIUM LEVEL Croke Park vantage point seats are being offered at cut-down value for Ireland’s six home internationals next season. In a move seen to combat the global recession, the IRFU’s enticing ticketing packages are likely to ensure full houses at all their home international fixtures next season. However, no tickets will go on public sale or through the IRFU’s official website.

The normally exclusive premium level tickets are valued from as little as €90 per match, around the same price charged for a normal stand ticket during last season’s Six Nations matches against France and England at GAA headquarters.

That stand price was viewed as excessive, but now fans will be able to watch the best of southern hemisphere from the Hogan, Cusack or Davin Stands from as little as €70 per game.

Ireland play Australia, Fiji and world champions, South Africa, as part of their Autumn International Series in November and will then defend their RBS Six Nations Championship title with home games against Italy, Wales and Scotland in 2010.

The Australian and South African games have been packaged together ensuring fans will be able to watch both touring southern hemisphere teams make what will be their only appearance in Croke Park. Package prices for the Croke Park games start at €20 for Schools, €65 for terrace, €140 for stand and €180 for premium level seats.

The equally historic Fiji match will be available as a single ticket game in the RDS, which will be hosting its first ever rugby international and ticket prices start at €5 for schools and €32/€40 for stand.

The 2010 RBS Six Nations Championship games will be the last to be played in Croke Park before games return to the soon to be completed Aviva Stadium.

The games against Italy, Wales and Scotland are being packaged together and supporters can attend all three internationals with prices ranging from €30 for schools, €105 for terrace, €225 for stand and €285 for premium level seats.

All ticket packages for the Ireland home games in the Guinness Series and 2010 RBS Six Nations Championship will be distributed through the provincial branches who will in turn distribute them to the clubs and schools of Ireland.

Ireland Home International Ticket Packages and Prices Season 2009-10: Guinness Series 2009 Ticket Package (two games): Ireland v Australia and South Africa: Premium €180; Stand €140; Terrace €65; Schools €20.

Ireland v Fiji (one game): Stand €40; Stand €32; Schools €5.

RBS Six Nations Championship 2010 Ticket Package (three games): Ireland v Italy, Wales and Scotland: Premium €285; Stand €225; Terrace €105; Schools €30.

That game at the RDS is tottaly, utterly pointless, why did they not do the same as the Canada match last year and have the Fiji game in Thomond Park. I understand the reason for it not being in Croke Park becuse the IRFU realised that Ireland v. Fiji would be no where near a sell out, but saying that some people can't get to Croke Park but can get to the RDS, where is the logic in that.

Once again supporters in the South (and West mabey) get screwed, not just by the tickets pakages but the locations aswell. I think every other Munster supporter is with me on this.

Ireland v Fiji should be held at the Sportsgrounds. :D:D

It's not the IRFU's fault that Dublin is the capital city. And besides its a 4 hour roadtrip 2 1/2 if you take the train its not like its completely out of the way.

Not when the train ticket is more expensive than the match ticket and is actually about 3 hours 15 minutes on a good day, all for a game against Fiji.

But the point I'm trying to make here is that I can not see the point of having the match in the RDS in the first place.

Why not? Croke Park won't sell out and we haven't had an international match in the RDS yet. I think its quite fitting that the home to Leinster will host the Irish squad seeing as Munster's Thomond Park and Ulstter's Ravenhill have done.

Im a munster supporter and i really dont agree with you. A 4 hour drive/ 3 hour train ride/ 1 hour flight (from where i live in Kerry) is nothing these days. If anything i would also like to see some games being played in Ravenhill once again. I understand your frustration, but its not like its a long journey or anything. And yes its about time there was an international in the RDS anyway. We got Canada in Thomond so stop complaining.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 13,018 ✭✭✭✭jank

Most other Unions play their games around the country. So it would make perfect sense to have a game in munster (thomand pk).

Munster got Canada last year - Ulster got a match in Ravenhill recently enough, Leinster get a match in the RDS. It's called rotation. Presumably a larger cut of the proceeds from those matches goes directly into the branches coffers rather than the IRFU as a whole.

It must be so hard for the Leinster people to get to Croke Park :D
I agree with you about rotation (T. Park, R. Hill and Croke Park) is the way it should be.
