    1. Strong theist. 100 per cent probability of God. In the words of C.G. Jung, 'I do not believe, I know.'
    2. Very high probability but short of 100 per cent. De facto theist. 'I cannot know for certain, but I strongly believe in God and live my life on the assumption that he is there.'
    3. Higher than 50 per cent but not very high. Technically agnostic but leaning towards theism. 'I am very uncertain, but I am inclined to believe in God.'
    4. Exactly 50 per cent. Completely impartial agnostic. 'God's existence and non-existence are exactly equiprobable.'
    5. Lower than 50 per cent but not very low. Technically agnostic but leaning towards atheism. 'I do not know whether God exists but I'm inclined to be skeptical.'
    6. Very low probability, but short of zero. De facto atheist. 'I cannot know for certain but I think God is very improbable, and I live my life on the assumption that he is not there.'
    7. Strong atheist. 'I know there is no God, with the same conviction as Jung "knows" there is one.'

    Hi all,

Thought I'd post this up with a poll just to see where people stand.

Just so ye know I'm not hiding anything there is a sister thread in the A&A forum. No need to double vote though, that would be a bit messy....
And just to *cough* clarify, this is not scientific, the results mean nothing, its only a boards poll thats all, its a bit of fun really, I am just intrested to see where people are!

    Cheers

If anything correlating the results of both polls should give an indication of the cross over in posters in both forums.

Agreed but if people start double voting... well I reckon they could be read together rather than being a bad mix of the two. Sure we'll see how it pans out (not scientific, just a toy)

So if someone's voted over on A&A you'd rather they not vote on this one? Just want to clarify :)

I'm just thinking so... not a rule I guess... Its there to be used by all though, any suggestions? I'm not really bothered, I thought it would be intresting to see each indivdual however if you visit both forums, I you prob should vote in both (if you want).

I'll let it to the group to decide:D

OP, the belief in God is an entirely separate question to the belief that Christianity is his relationship to humanity.

Compleatly agree, But the question isnt what do you believe humans relationship with god is, its pick a number:D

As I am a number 6, for me (to a certain extent) all religions are pretty much one in the same (no insult to anyone) as you have a central belief of a 'creator'. These questions strip away the rules of religion and ask 2 basic questions, do you believe in a god, if so how much 100% or 0% (with a few options in between) its not a scientific method but I find it interesting:D

Me too. I wonder when we'll get our first 7!

Um, there was a seven there before you posted that...

Ah! Let's say then that I'm looking forward to seeing our first out of the closet 7. And how it is they figure to know 100% about the non-existance of something (whereas it's relatively easy to know 100% about the existance of something)

Ah, fair enough. There's a couple of 'em over on the sister thread in A&A. They explain their 'reasoning' there.

    I picked number 2 but I'm probably more of a 1.1

I don't think you can be 100% sure of anything - after all, I could really be in the Matrix and dreaming that I've just finished cutting the grass and now am posting on boards.ie ..................

That's something most of us can agree on.

I said something to that effect in the sister thread across the road (sans Matrix). Some people still don't get it though :(

Which would appear to put limits on what knowing entails rather than limits on what you know. For the purposes of the poll you could say you know God exists 100% but don't know whether any knowledge you posses in anyway reflects what the absolute reality might be.

That said, if we have become part of the Absolute order (in being adopted as sons into the realm of that Absolute order) then we don't need to concern ourselves with wondering. We know because we know - period. If that's not sufficient then not even God (the absolute) can know he isn't part of some Matrix or other.

    :)

Ideology is like that, anything less than 100% is considered to be 'letting the side down'.

Having said that, I'm 100% sure that Cristiano Ronaldo is a spoilt brat whose departure from the Premiership will benefit football. I'm also 99.9999% sure that Real Madrid won't have enough money left to bid for Cesc Fabregas. :)

Yeah, but I heard Man U have a bit of petty cash at the moment:)
And to give this post some On topicness:) for all intents and purposes, I'm in the 1 category.

It strikes me that using humans as batteries a la the Matrix would be pretty inefficient. I'd be really close to 100% on that question.

So if Madrid does buy Cesc Fabregas would that shake your faith in God? :)

No, it became obvious to me a long time ago that God is not an Arsenal supporter.

The correct answer is 1 (100% probability of God existing). My answer would be somewhere between 1 and 2 if I voted.
