Are you sure the catalogue you have at home is the same as the current catalogue that can be picked up in-store?

exactly. the point is that they upped the price for something, while reducing the extent of the item. it's more of a rant to be honest!!!

Yep, I got some furniture at Christmas. I've seen the price of one of the items go up by about €10 and the other item is now almost double the price I paid a mere 6 and a half months ago!

i picked out some plates from my argos catalogue yesterday, then went in and bought a set. i went in with the reference code, didn't check the in-store catalogue.

    http://www.argos.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=30001&catalogId=1500001501&langId=-1&searchTerms=8001740&Submit=GO+%3E

in the catalogue i have at home, which is about 6 months old, the same items cost 28 euro, and come with 8 mugs. so they've taken out stuff and upped the price about 14 euro.

    chancers!
the old set was only 4 place settings, this one has 8 so twice the number of plates etc but no mugs and less than twice the price.

God - I'm bored today. Checked up argos uk (£27) and checked the reviews.

It seems they did have a 32 piece set last year but judging by the comment it was muck quality & poor colouring.

My guess is they got it remade at higher quality due to the number of returns and this cost more.

Overall, Argos are one of the most expensive stores to shop in both in the UK & Ireland even if they do have a few "headline" offers.

Super markets (which I wont name) are guilty of the same underhanded little tricks like that. Items advertised as being reduced suddenly aquire their original value at the til. I went in the last day and bough, amongst other things, a container of cherry tomatoes that were supposed to be 1.99.

At the til, the cashier was busy talking, and I just noticed the container being scanned twice by accident, when I got the receipt, I noticed cheery tomatoes 2.99 x 2 on it. So if I hadnt been watching, I would have ended up paying €6 for tomatoes that were supposed to be 1.99.

Another 'irregularity' is when beer is on sale at 3 bottles for €6, but if they are bought individually, they are 2.70, 2.50 etc. At the til, unless you say anything, they are scanned seperatly, and you are charged full price.

I agree, Argos is unbelievable cheaper though you can find things which its hard to find elsewhere and also some great bargains in their sales e.g. I got a canon dslr in the sale for 514 reduced from 800, you won't find 514 anywhere for it, online was about 600 cheapest so sometimes they can be great.
