A potentially serious incident involving a cockpit fire on board an Australian low budget carrier using a 2 year old A330 forces it to land at Guam.

Not good press for the A330 just two weeks after the French incident and the second serious A330 incident with a Qantas associated Jet. (Jetstar is part-owned by Qantas).

What on earth can cause fires in the cockpit?

All of the electrical equipment. There is probably alot of heat generated with it. Apparently it was something to do with the window and its heating system (I assume to clear fog) having a malfunction and catching fire. More.

Airbus must be feeling a bit uneasy now....

Really bad for Airbus, Boeing executives are probably smirking in joy.

I dont think Boeing would be happy with the potential loss of life for any Aircraft Manufacturing company

such a Pity for this to happen again to the A330 as it is such a great plane with a fine safety record until the past few weeks, im sure airbus will get to the bottom of the problems and soldier on.
