Hey all, been a while since I was around these parts. The reason being that a few months ago I got burgled and both my cameras were stolen. My pride and joy was Nikon D80 +18-135 +nifty-50...thieving beggars!

Now that the insurance company has finally gotten off its harris and organised my claim, they're saying that the camera was only worth NZD1500 (it cost the bones of NZD2000 when I bought it a year ago). As most of you will know, the D80 is EOL and there is no direct replacement in the market. The D90 retails for nearly twice what the insurance company are offering and the D60 didn't fill me with joy when I tried it out.

So my "what camera should I buy?" question is this: would you guys recommend buying a second hand D80 and a few lenses or should I cut my losses and go for a new one My options given my insurance payout are D40/D60/450D/40D/500D.

I've always used Nikon and might be in line for a couple lenses soon but I'd consider the Canon
