They are considered vermin so go ahead.

Nature is red in tooth and claw, a magpie wouldn't hesitate in pecking the eyes out of a cast sheep.

Yeah but, a farmer would probably know whether it's alright to kill them or not.

Wanting to kill stuff for the sake of killing it is a bit odd?

This thread will go off in a rampant. What's the point of it? Obviously one should not kill anything but argue away if ye must

For the sake of it , No.
You wouldn't shoot a person for the sake of it so why would you shoot something that also breathes?!

Yea. But that's hardly a reason to murder them.

So if you had 6 rats visit your house every day to get food would you just leave them be?

    Discussed here before.

We humans are a great species altogether - something interferes with our 'right' to do what we want, and we seek to exterminate it

Think maybe you'd be better off posting this in the shooting forum where the lads actually know what they are talking about.

It would help to state your circumstances.

Yes Let's protect the Magpies. Stuff the beautiful little baby songbirds that they murder. And the poor ewes who get their eye's took out of their heads when they are awake when they are cast and the baby lambs.

Magpies annoy people and other birds/animals yes, but so do many other creatures.

I do not advocate killing magpies. Nor am I saying 'lets save the magpies'. There's a few in our area but I'm not going to get out the pellet gun. We have food for the birds, but the smaller ones, the large birds can't get to it. We have had mice before and yes we set traps, but that's because mice can get into your house with diseases whereas magpies don't.

    Everything is relative.
Should we kill foxes because they kill chickens? no
Should we kill cheetahs because they kill ibex and other animals? no
Should I shoot the wood pigeons that sit on top of my chimney and coo down it at insane hours of the morning & wake me up? no
