I met a guy a couple of weeks ago in a bar in Scotland. We hit it off that night and had a laugh. We've been talking to each other on facebook ever since. He seems normal and fun. He wants me to go over and see him. I do like him and I'm just looking to have a bit of fun and so is he.

As i've only met hime once, do you think i'm foolish to go over and see him on my own?

I've talked to some of my friends and they think i should bring someone with me. I'm a sensible person so i think i would know if a situation was dodgy. That's the reason some of my friends think i should not go over alone. They think that once i get over there he might have something weird planned.

I think some of my friends are over-reacting just a little. I said to them that if i book accomodation why is it so risky but they just think i should bring someone with me (a friend)

    Please help.

This is pretty much how I met my ex-girlfriend.

Was at a gig in Scotland, met her and got on like a house on fire from the very first moment. I ended up staying an extra day to hang out with her and she flew over to Dublin a week later to go to dinner with me. Her friends thought she was a bit crazy but I don't think anyone thought I had anything weird planned (I didn't). We ended up going out for a year and a half or thereabouts.

One of the coolest girls I've ever known.

So - if you're a bit worried, have him come to see you - flights are cheap these days. And good luck!

a couple I know met exactly like this & are now married.

book your accommodation elsewhere & have a friend you check in with via text messages. tell them where you're staying.

you don't need to bring somoene with you IMO.

    Good luck!

Jeez, you people are very laid-back! A bit TOO laid-back...

OP, you met this guy, you hit it off, and you're now mailing through FB, etc, and he wants you to visit again. Great! BUT...you've still only met him ONCE in person!

I would advise taking a couple of mates with you, book into a b & b, and there ya have it - a good weekend with your friends AND you get to see your crush as well, knowing there's people looking out for you should anything go wrong :)

Simple tell HIM to visit YOU  you've already met on his home turf, time for him to put himself out there. Problem solved.

I don't think you need to take a friend. I would go on my own if I was you. I also know people who have met like this and it's been fine.

Yes there is a slight risk involved here because you don't know this guy but there is slight rick in most things people do. It's no more risky then going on a date with someone you met in a bar and taking someone home with you in the evening after a night out. You have tot ake some risks sometimes, you can't go around expecting eveeryone to be a rapist or murderer.

Just make sure someone knows where you are and text your friends on a ragular basis so they know you're ok. I wouldn't stay with him either, book yuor own room and make sure you have enough money with you to get home in a hurry if there was anything weird going on.

I know a friend doing the exact same thing. I didnt think it was so regular but she is doing it with a much older guy which is very creepy. It depends on how you feel. If you want to do it, sure, **** it but my personal opinion is it is a bit cheap and sleezy.

The girl I know that is doing it has recently dumped the nicest guy in the world so maybe me and my friends are just biased! Its not really the nicest thing in the world but the people above have examples of it working! Just not for me! Good luck tho
