Hi, I have a basic hp laptop it has a hdmi port. Im watching movies via the link on my philips 42 inch tv. The link is gold plated, I was given it free with the tv so I don't know what make it is. The problem I have is that only sound comes through the laptop and not the tv. However sound does come through the hdmi link when I have my xbox 360 connected. What am I not doing? sorry bout the lack of info on the tv and laptop will post if its really needed (cant be arsed looking for their boxes) I don't think they are that important I've a feeling its something small or stupid im not doing!

    please help! :D

it probably works defacto on the 360 because its a microsoft product..

Right click your volume button on the start bar, select playback devices, and select the Realtek Digital Output and set it as the default output, then try the HDMI connection again.
