Private Scanning!

Hi Guys,

Im just wondering has anybody had a private scan done?

If so... were did you have it done?, how much was it?, and was it worth it!
I have two other children and i am 10 weeks pregnant now, and this time round im finding the wait till the 20 week scan really endless!!

I had one done in the RCSI unit in the Rotunda Hospital. It cost €100, it was brilliant, scanning machine was much clearer than hospital one. Got lovely pictures. I had mine done at 12 weeks as I didn't want to wait until 20 weeks.

Well worth it in my opinion.

We had one done in a clinic beside mount carmel. Cant remember the name, but they are famous enough for doing 3d scans. They have a clinic in swords too. Cost about a hundred, but the best thing was they give you a dvd recording of the scan so you can go home and watch it over and over again.

im going to holles street, wud that matter? and can you just ring the rotunda and make an appointment yourself? you dont have to have any kind of medical reason do you?

And could you see much at 12 weeks, thats sounds really exciting, the 20 week wait is very long isnt it?:)

My sister got two private scans done during her pregnancy last year, and I ended up going with her to both as her hubby was away on work both times. She went to a clinic in Swords called Babyscan (think it's the same place Jimdagym mentioned) at around 12 weeks iirc. We could see the heartbeat, and all the babies arms and legs etc, was surprised it looked like a proper baby so early, was expecting a blob on the screen like Rachel in Friends! She also went back for a 3D scan later on which was even cooler, got a DVD and loads of pics. Didn't need a referral or anything, and they really took the time to explain everything to her. Around the 100 euro mark is not too bad, its well worth it for the reassurance! and sure the scan in the hospital at 20 weeks costs more.. i think its 120 euro!!

Yeah, you could see loads! You just ring the Rotunda and ask to be put through to the RCSI unit and book with them! Here's the scan.
