Just got planning for new house so just starting to plan the design.
Thinking of going as close passive- super insulated
My first question is if i am to put 200-300mm of poly-iso in sub floor can i still built concrete blocks for internal walls
    Your advise would be welcomed

if you are going for a 'super insulated' home, consider using an insulated foundation....

its pointless putting in a huge amount of insulation under the subfloor if its going to be punctured by thermal bridges at all internal block walls...

this is what i mean by insulated foundations

@ELP, don't forget that your block internal walls have to be built off foundation, not slab.
That crack went out years ago!

Unless you are building a raft foundation/ floor slab (which is highly unlikely)
Have you an engineer on board to design your foundation layout and dimension it for you?

Thanks for replies - it's only outline planning I have received - have a meeting with engineer next week but want to have some sort of plan when I meet him - don't want to end up with something he thinks will do - need to make sure that he is clued in to super insulated and passive ouses and not just basic design - will probably have more stupid questions to ask

This is essential - an engineer who is comfortable the the insulated raft concept
