I have an opel combo van and theres a light that has come on and off recently.

Its a symbol of a little spanner, its a yellow symbol. Now it was serviced about 2 months ago and i have just had bit of work done on it, tie rod ends replaced.

I dont have the manual, it wasnt in the van when i got it, so i cant look up and see what it is.
Does anyone know what it might be on for?

    Thanks

It's the engine management light, It means there is a fault with the engine electronics, transmission electronics, or water in the diesel filter.
I've had it three times on an astra van due to various sensors going and it's often associated with a serious drop in power if the ecu goes into limp mode.

You need to take it to a dealer to get it hooked up to their Tech 2 computer so that they can read the trouble codes to see what is causing the light to come on.

We had two combi vans in work, one has had the light on for months if not a couple of years. The other had the light come on and the engine siezed the following week.

Either way, a trip to a mechanic is in order.

Any good independent garage should be able to sort this out. You don't say if it's the one with the 1.7 Isuzu type engine or the 1.3 Fiat type engine. The 1.7s are usually bombproof. The 1.3s can give a bit of bother. Common problem is the EGR valve.

If you were in Limerick I could get you help but Meath is a bit far away ... !
