Do you? If a slow lorry or car pulls in to let you pass do you give them a flash of the hazzard lights as a way of saying thanks?

    Absolutely.

It's against the law for drivers to pull onto the hard shoulder for anything other than an emergency. The least you can do is show your thanks.

Yes, unless they were not doing it for ages around a bendy stretch of road and then do it when you were about to safely overtake them anyhow.

Yeah, in fairness they don't have to move in so it's nice to thank them with a flash of the hazards. It's a nice feeling too if you let someone pass you & they acknowledge your good deed.

However if I'm caught behind a lorry/ tractor/ slow driver that won't pull in even though they are going about 20mph then I like to show my appreciation by giving them the finger once I do pass them.

AFAIK it's only illegal on the motorway - and considered good practice on a normal carriageway.

It really boils my piss if I let someone pass and they don't have the courtesy to acknowledge it

Obviously they cant do it on a bendy stretch of raod as they themselves would be at risk of hitting something (concealed entrance, parked car/lorry/donkey cart etc on a blind corner.
