Anybody been backing in this? Probably a bit late to be pointing this out now. In such a short format there is more of a chance of an upset and there is good value to be found in backing the outsiders. For example, Netherlands were 9/1 to beat England and Ireland 5/2 to beat Bangladesh. With twelve games in the first round these two games alone would have covered all first round matches before any other "shocks" were taken into account.

Another thing to take into account with this version of the game is betting in running. Favs flipflop pretty regularly offering a great opportunity to lay selections and guarantee profits.

Second round due to start tomorrow with eight remaining teams divided into two groups of four so twelve more games. Going to try a tenner unit stake on outsiders to see how this goes.

    Opening Bank €120

Games for Thursday 11th of June

New Zealand v Ireland @ 6/1 with Ladbrokes
England v South Africa @ 6/4 with Boyles

    Current Bank €100

As well as backing outsiders blindly for the purpose of this exercise I think I'll have a side bet on England as I really think that's a 50/50 game.

    It's not a 50/50 game i don't think but i certainly see why you'd be backing England at 6/4.

South Africa are a better team than them in all 3 facets of the game (batting, bowling and fielding) but the reality of Twenty20 cricekt is that a game can be influenced by 2/3 players on either team in the way that other forms of the game can't. 3 wickets in a spell from a bowler or a quick knock from a batsman can win a game and as such, when you have 2 good teams coming together, the outsider should never be a big price. Realistically, 6/4 is bigger than the 100% line on England so a bet it is.

Input appreciated. Agreed that I might have bigged it up a bit much as a 50/50 game but as you say 6/4 is still a tasty price. Definitely could not be having SA at 4/7. Should come down to England's innings. Good batsmen against good fielders.
