    Hi All,

I’m putting together a list of Black & White (and “Technicolor”) films which have a particular city theme to them. The kind of themes I’m looking for include:

    City Apartment Life
    City Glamour
    Wealthy city lifestyle
    Painting the Town Red.
    The City Underworld
The Chattering Classes/ Word on the Street
    Film Noir

So far I’ve put together the following films that match some or all these criteria. If anyone can think of any others, I am all ears.

Thanks In Advance for all responses.

    Dark Passage
    How to Marry a Millionaire
    On The Town
    Singin in the Rain
    It's Always Fair Weather
    The 7 Year Itch
    The Roaring Twenties
    Angels with Dirty Faces

One of the most famous films ever made fits right into what your looking for. Metropolis by Fritz Lang was made in 1927 and is considered by many to be the greatest movie ever made.

'Rome, Open City'[1945] might tick some of your boxes. It's a film about the Italian resistance movement which was shot in Rome during the Nazi occupation. Amazing stuff.

I also love 'Pepe le Moko'[1937] - a french gangster movie set in Algiers. Brilliant.
