Can anyone give a quick explanation as to the difference between the various olive oils?

Most commonly "virgin" vs "extra-virgin"

I'm never really sure which one to buy, I watch loads of cooking shows where they just day....drizzle this & that with olive oil but they don't tell you which type or what the difference is.

    Thanks.

extra virgin olive oil is from the 1st press of the olives. its used as dressing or to 'drizzle over' but not to cook with as its too good a quality. Regular olive oil that u use to cook with is from subsequent pressing of the olives

Virgin is for salads and dressing, while regular is for cooking.
