Printer cable is an optional extra?!!

Just received a Lexmark X3580 printer/scanner/copier that I ordered from Dabs a couple of days ago. Opened up the box and there was no usb cable to connect it to my computer. I read the box and it states that the cable is an optional extra and must be purchased separately!!
It's a bit like taking delivery of a new car and discovering that the steering wheel is an optional extra!

Anyway I had a root around and found an old cable that will work so it's grand. Just thought I'd mention it in case anyone is thinking of ordering one.

Fairly common for them not to come with a USB cable for some reason. If you order a printer from Dell it doesn't come with a cable as standard.

Has been for the about last 5-8 years, most people already have a printer so also have a printer cable and the manufacturers claim their deducting the price of the printer cost (Which makes their printer cheaper)

Fair enough I suppose. The last printer I bought was about 5 years ago so that explains it.

I always found that amusing and clients often question when I say they need to buy a cable as they don't come as standard! Assumed it was an Epson thing but I gather its common with a lot of companys.
