If you want a good judo session in derry. Go to Pilots Rown in the bogside on a thursday night.

Plenty of black belts doing randori and newazza. I haven't been in a few years but it used to start at 8.

Jim Toland is the main instructor. I can send you his number if you want.

Monday nights in Long Tower Community is a bit more technique and randori and newazza at the end.

I think those one's are all clubs for junoirs mainly

The big boys hang out at Pilot's Row and Long Tower

You should take to it pretty quick with ur background in JJ, will do wonders for your takedowns and ur scramble.

Be prepared to eat some humble Pie if you go to that Pilot's Row session

Now you are going back a while Campbel but the last time I was there it was technique at the start and then rolling/takedowns at the end.

    Very good class.

Maybe a little less lung busting than the thursday session but well worth it.

Will PM the number to ye

    Those videos are awesome.

Any chance you could give me the exact directions.

I can see the one in long tower street from the map on the NIJF website. I assume this is the monday class.

Where exactly is the thursday class?

I tried to call Jim Toland but can never get through to him

Pilots Row Community Centre is about 2 minutes walk from The FREE DERRY CORNER wall.

Its on the same street. If you are at the free derry corner wall head towards the William Street Roundabout and you will see it on your right hand side.

    See the map below.

Let me know how you get on.

It's been while since I been there but the standard was great when I last trained.

    Its easy..

    Use

I'm in fighting in the white belt (I'm not a white belt, but some comps & gradings you fight in a coloured belt, ie white -V- blue or white -V- red).

    Hope that helps.

Sry its not a very exciting clip :(

    Great vids btw.

Haha I'm fighting on the green mat in the back ground, another V. Bad day at the office, roll on the next one :D

Always found the standard at the NW Open ran by J Toland to be very good and one of the best run comps I've been to.

The level of Judo from the two clubs I've come across from Derry, Ulster Samurai Judo Club & Long Tower, to be very high. Best of luck with it!
