Any where know the best place to buy the above?

I need to finish networking my mams house, electrician did most of it but decided to feck off then!

Buying too much isnt really an issue as my Dad is in the middle of a build and it can be used there too.

    Thanks in advance

BackBox or WoodComm are the two main wholesells of network cable into Ireland.

I don't know where they are going with those prices?

All the electrical wholesalers sell it.

    I bought a 1,000ft (305m) box of CAT5e cable locally yesterday for €35

I can just imagine the delivery charges, considering the weight, if you were to buy on the Net....

Eastern electrical are nearly €50 per box but they do have patch panels, sockets etc.
Ganlys probably have it cheaper and may have sockets etc. MGF in Roscommon town are quite good to deal with if you are up that way.

Would you no go with CAT6 at this stage. Main cost is the labour

Cat5e is so much easier to work with and can handle 10/100/1000 no problem.

Unless he has a specific need he will be fine with Cat5e.

Probably. But i've found Cat6 very fast comapred with Cat5e (only on certain things i'll accept). I was sceptical, but was surprised. I suppose i'd always try and put in the best to start with.

I wouldn't fault you for that in any way lods and I suppose, why not?

It's just that I think that we tend to want the latest & greatest when it comes to anything computer related even though we might never need or use it? :D

I know people with machines that would put many a serious gamers rig to shame, all they do though is surf & check email

They do however get to brag about their Spec in the pub.....
