If anyone is interested. I was hoping to pop over on one of our flights but have been rostered to the States so no joy there.

    Queen's Birthday Flypast
    13-Jun-2009 13:00 to 13:00

The RAF's biggest formation of the year flies over London.

The formation should consist of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, 9 x Typhoons, VC10 + Tornado GR4s, E-3D Sentry + Tornado F3s, Red Arrows.

Rehearsal day is Weds 10th with 11th & 12th as reserve days. The practice will see RAF Waddington substituting as Buckingham Palace.

I'm afraid it is not quite the same without Concorde leading, with the Red Arrows. You had plenty of warning it was coming. The Tristar can never equal it. I think they have tried the VC10 in front for that added boost.

Hope the weather is better the weekend.

Request at work for days off are a 50/50 chance at best.

    Sorry Bramble!

What I meant was you could be at home watching TV. Concorde approaching with the Red Arrows you could hear miles away and had plenty of time to get outside and see it before it passed over.
With a Tristar at the head it is usually passing over before you hear it. You actually will not hear the Tristar as it will be the Red Arrows you hear.

If the weather stays as it is you will be better of in the USA. Today aircraft heading east after taking off from 09R had to hold their heading and stay at 2,500 feet until they cleared the cloud which base was 3,000ft. Must have had bad turbulence reports. They were flying over central London. From experience this only happens in summer and is a wind shear avoidance measure.

I thought it was quiet in Sunbury today.

    Bugger!

I was planning on heading over to London for a weekend sometime soon. If I had known a couple of weeks ago that this was on I would have chosen this weekend. Too short notice now though.. :(

Hope you can view this. Looks like it was led by a Lancaster Bomber. Are they Spitfires with it?

Another good publick occasion for those who appreciate a good ol flypast is Bastille Day in Paris.

The Armee de l`Air usually put on a good show following the line of the Champs Elysees.

    14th July,for anybody with a few days hol`s outstanding !!! :)

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.
