    Remember to focus on the following;

    Essential Competencies of the position are;

    Highly self motivated
    Ability to work in a team
    Flexible attitude towards working hours as job will entail evening and weekend work
    Ability to think on feet and react promptly in response to changing situations
    Passion for sports and betting
    Highly numerate

    Sow how your previous experience as on course bookmakers rep showed your ability to work as part of a team (you, bookmaker, clerk working together to maximise profit from each race) Flexibility in terms of working weekends, midweek meetings etc (times that are outside the norm of usual working day/week) thinking on feet and prompt reaction is a mainstay of a good bookmakers assistant managing liabilities is a hard task and a single mistake could incur huge loss to the bookmaker concerned. Be knowledgable about different sports (show how up to date you are on a wide range of sports) and show your number crunching ability without resort to comps/laptops etc. Just a simple thing like give an example of pricing up a 3 horse race (4/6 fav, 5/2 and 4/1 shots) pretend to work out the overround in ur head (108%) and show that you can use the head for figures and not just the computer!

    Best of luck with the application. Went for something similiar with Paddy Power last year and would have loved to have gotten the job! Actually maybe you should ignore the above, if u do want the job!;)
