I downloaded a documentary/film called ''Executions''. It is pretty grusome. It was made by a group opposed to the death penalty and is made to shock the viewer.

It showed a prelude to a public stoning in, I think, Mogadishu. I caught a glimpse of what I think was the Irish tricolour and a lone soldier watching the madness.

Can anyone confirm this? I'll get a photo later.

Possibly an AU soldier? The Ivory Coast have a tricolour similar to the Irish Tricolour.

Ah. As far as I can remember he even looked Irish. I'll get the photo up tonight. Would be a boo boo if my memory turns out to be not up to scratch. :p

This is the flag of the Ivory coast

    http://images.google.ie/images?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-GB%3Aofficial&um=1&sa=3&q=ivory+coast+flag&btnG=Search+images

Looks similar to the Irish one.

What weapon was he holding? That would be better to lead us to Identify him.

None. Looked like an observation post (hence the flag)

If the footage is old it could be, the DF were in there in the early 90s, part of the UN mission at the time.

I downloaded it using a method that isn't above board. :P
    Google ''Executions movie documentary''

He seems to be asking were the Irish there when this took place.

Hi everyone - the video in question can be found here http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3295213832561010248

The troops in question are french - in the seconds before the woman is stripped you can see one carrying a FAMAS rifle and it clearly is a French tricolour you see fluttering in front of the solitary soldier spotted at 8:38.

Irish troops took part in some of the UN missions in somalia and this is on official record.

Now that this issue has been cleared up, why did you ask the question Perestrokia?

Possibly wondering why said soldier do anything to help. Not having watched the documentary I'm only assuming that the execution was as a result of a judicial decision. If so, the soldier would have no right interfering.

From looking at the scene in question, its a French flag, that would also link up with the French soldiers from earlier on in that scene

Boredom as well as the thought that someone out there witnessed this and could do nothing about it. Its a pretty shocking scene.

Looks like I got a bad version of it. I looked over it and going by the soldiers hes clearly not Irish, but the flag is iffy and I couldn't tell either way. The video above confirms its French.

    Thanks all

Yes, people stand by and watch whilst people are slaughtered all the time. Its called protecting our "traditional neutrality".

For your infomation Pereststroker as to the Rwandan genocide you refer to, don't try to use that atrocity as an excuse for you to have a pop and infer that Irish troops would/could stand by while that woman was killed. Cheap shot sh!thead.

Oh...and by the by, stop illegally downloading stuff off the net ya pirate, it really doesn't impress when you have to steal stuff to cause an argument. get it?

Yeah they're fairly clearly french troops, if the FAMAS didnt give them away, i would have thought you'd have seen the little french flags on the front of the vehicle

Piss off you fool. Talk about a chip on your shoulder. Did I infer that someone stood by and done nothing? My point was that he could do fúck all while a mob of god knows how many dozen did what they did.
You spend too long on the net no doubt. Theres nothing to ''get in to''. I asked a question, and just nearly provoked a bit of debate, but nah. This ain't the first time you've chased me either, I suggest you lose your online obsession.

Had you have read any of my posts, my description clearly states that this 'lone' soldier was unarmed. You must be discussing something else.

Yes, and there is a French flag infront of him, and in the same section there were french troops, therefore theres more than a good chance he's french

I wonder if he was saying that the Irish troops wouldn't stand by? What if it was firing squad? Lethal injection...

Is it for us to interfere with the local judicial system?

    NTM
