I believe the new 13" MacBook Pros are actually slightly cheaper than the old MacBook models.

They are indeed. The "entry" level unibody MacBook (which is now replaced by the 13" MacBook Pro with better hardware to boot) was around the €1200 mark... So for about €50 less, you now get:

    - 2.26Ghz CPU instead of 2.0Ghz
    - Backlit keyboard as standard
    - SD slot
    - The new built-in battery (not too sure this is a good thing yet TBH...)

    Not bad at all...
