Advertising Company Query

    Hi all,

This may seem a bit cryptic, so I apologise in advance!!

I have a number of "customer service units" in a shopping centre. They comprise of the "customer service element" and also a 17" LCD video advertising screen and poster light box. The LCD screen can store up to 90 minutes of data. I am just wondering about the best way to get businesses to advertise through these mediums. Should I contact businesses directly or pass my info on to an ad agency???

They are located in a busy shopping centre, and when the customer uses the unit, they need to stay there for 15 minutes to fully use the unit. This means that the absorbtion rate of the advertising is relatively high. They will be watching the LCD screen as they use the unit for 15 minutes.

    Any advice is appreciated!

    thanks.

You can ‘pitch’ an ad agency as to the location, foot fall, price etc – but to expect an ad agency to do anything more than lunch is asking a whole lot.

The client probably won’t hear about it.

I would approach direct - but your market seems limited to reflect products in the location.

Plus, 15 minutes? Is that asking a bit much – it have the attention span of a small fish! (plus the production of a 15 min reel might be a turn off)

Anyway, back to the original – it’s direct approach that will work.

If you are in a busy shopping centre dont you have access directly to a number of businesses already quite easily? Also surely surrounding it there must be other businesses. I would directly contact them an see if they would be interested, if its a big shopping centre people might not be aware of all the shops available. As for the 15 min reel being too long as someone said, 15 mins would require a lot of businesses and their advert wouldnt be too long, couple of slides maybe so it would be hard to fill it with 15 mins of unique adverts.

Possibly a good idea in the current climate would be to say to them that they could use it to advertise special offers or "recession busters" that people might not see if they dont shop in that particular shop or havent passed by. So basically instead of just plain old advertising the busienss aim it at showing the special offers which might interest people more.

Forget the agencies. They won't be interested becasue it's too small for them.
Local businesses best, especially any that are nearby but miss out on centre traffic.

Can't understand the 15 minute thing. Nobody waits that long. Think in terms of the average youtube vide length.

Hi all thanks for your replies,

I have an agreement with the centre that the tenants can advertise for free on the screens. Basically, they are 10 second slide ads and they are played on a loop. So, I am looking for other outside businesses to advertise for a fee.

In relation to the 15 minutes, If I go into anymore detail you may find out what the units are.

Basically, if the person wants/needs to use this service, (which they do), The service lasts for 15 minutes, although, they can leave at any time, but it is more effective over the 15 minutes. This is why I need more ads on the screen.
