    Hey,
So I justed posted something and for the first time I actaully read the sign on the post box, the time in large font was 4 pm, but I read something about the post box operating from 9 am in the smaller print.
Impression I got was that the post is collected a few times a day, where as my Mum reckons its only at 4pm!

    Anyone know?

(it was suburban post box and not in city centre or anything)

Are you sure you didn't put it in one of those joke post boxes they have nowadays?

You put the letters in. They read them. Then they laugh and ring you up at night quoting sections of it back to you.

Funny as long as it doesn't happen to you.

So to answer your question: probably a few times a day.

I always had a bit of a trust issue with those smaller post boxes. Could only ever use a main post office shop joby.

From 9am to 6pm its a post box. From 6pm to 9am its a urinal. For me it is anyway.

Its once a day from most boxes. Where I live, Swords, Co. Dublin its once a day mon-fri and not at all at weekends and bank holidays. In town its more frequent

Never ever used the ones on the street. The kids are always messing with those ones...pissing in them, pouring paint in them, throwing bangers in them, setting them on fire, etc. You better off using the post boxes in the post office or at least one thats in doors.

I once posted two letters to myself as a test of An Post in the Main Post Office off Patrick street in Cork, one with my usual English address the other with the exact translation in Irish.

The English letter came the next day the Irish one 5 days later. So much for our national language.
