What a surprise. Toni Colom's been done for EPO.

Interesting how Colom hadn't signed up to the Katusha contract clause :)

Neither has Robbie McEwen and he's stated why on his site, so I wouldn't read much into it.

    Neither has Gert Steegmans.

I'm finding it increasingly difficult to believe that any of the big names are racing clean.
Some of Kohl's recent comments don't bode well.
“When I learned that the French authorities were going to make new analysis after the Tour — I reassured myself, OK, I am dead, but others will be dead, too,” he said. “What were the French authorities going to do? Withdraw the complete GC of the Tour? I knew they wouldn’t dare. Bizarrely, only three of us took the fall. I am convinced that the top 10 would be positive.”
“The top riders are so good at doping that they know what they need to do to keep their blood levels stable to escape targeting,” he said. “In fact, the UCI has shown us the levels of riders who failed tests. We used that as a reference to follow. The passport has almost helped us.”

Yeah, it's a sad state of affairs. I'm still wondering if I should take Kohl's statements with a pinch of salt or not -maybe he's decided on a new career as a 'whistle blower' and is exaggerating things to promote the inevitable tell-all book.

I dunno, Kohl seems to be intent on damaging everyone within reach of him, if he keeps going the way he's going he won't have much left to put into a book. However I don't know about this 'I'm on it - so everyone is on' attitude that seems to come out.

Also the attitude from older pro's seems to be wrong as well - they seem to be saying you know look it was harder back in our day, yah well no wonder a drug culture was prevalent.

I guess it's not news for those who have been looking at the sport with their eyes wide open, although I wouldn't just take Kohl's word for it.

BTW Here is a good summary of David' Walsh's book for those who have not read it. (I don't want to drag this thread into a LA-fest so lets not go there :) )

The more I hear about the current state of play regarding doping, the more I'm inclined to believe that Kohl isn't too far off the mark at all. I do think there are some riders doing it clean these days, but of the big names, they are still in the minority. It still appears way to easy to avoid testing positive.

I don't doubt that in the slightest, but I also think Kohl's exaggerating his claims (does that make sense?)

Yes, possibly, but probably not by much.
