The Irish Print Group (SIPTU) invites you to a range of events celebrating 200 years of trade unionism covering the Dublin Typographical Provident Society (1809 - 1964), Irish Graphical Society (1965 - 1983), Irish Print Union (1984 - 1998), and Irish Print Group (1998 - Present).

Witness a traditional that has virtually disappeared. Over four weekends this summer the Museum will host an exciting series of Demonstration Days. Practical demonstrations of the Intertype, Linotype, Monotype, Shaw Pen Ruling Machine and many other machines will be given by active retired typesetters and printers.

Expert advice will be on hand to answer any questions and visitors may be able to do some printing for themselves. The Museum will be brought to life on these unique days and visitors will get a rare glimpse of what a printing house was like 100 years ago.

The demonstrations will take place over the following four weekends:

    Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th June
    Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th June
    Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th July
    Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th July
    12.00 to 5.00pm each day.

On Thursday 11th June Owen A. Curran will present a lecture on the history of the union at 7.30pm.

Throughout June and July there will be a photographic and momorabilia exhibition in the Museum which will be open daily.

Everyone welcome. All events are free.
