    Yes and no.

From a licence point of view you can drive a van up to 3.5 tons GVW as soon as you have your licence ...you probably won't find anyone willing to insure you though.

would a 2 berth be under 3.5 tonne?

so what licence do you need to drive one if you've full licence and under 25?

    Cheers

If you are over 18 years of age you may legally drive any motorhome provided you have the appropriate licence.

    B - at 17 years up to 3.5 tonnes
C1 - at 18 years of age up to 7.5 tonnes
C - at 18 years of age - no weight limit.

If the motorhome has accomodation for more than 8 passengers (and less than 16), you will be required to be 21 years old with a D1 licence.

I don't know much about them but I imagine a 2 berth would come under a B licence especially a standard conversion type, e.g. Transit, Ducato etc.

At 17/18 you can drive and get insurance on any old 3.5 ton Transit / Ducato /Iveco van no problem.

Convert it into a camper and suddenly no insurance company will touch you ...that's the problem.

B licence is fine for a small camper. However more difficult to get insurance. Suggest you contact one of the insurance companies like dolmen directly

They make nearlly impossible for young people to dive a camper, I think it's part of a genreal fear of young people.

I used to have a Iveco, On the outside it was just a wight van, on the inside it was a camper. All the ferniture attached to rales so it could be taken out for the DOE.

Works out being very expensive as you have to pay full wack for your inssurance and DOE and Tax.

It can be done and is worth it.

Again if you can easly take the furnitur out, you can use the van for work ect.

As for what you can drive it's all in the wieght. check that the GVW is 3.5 or less. You can get some monster sized vechels in this catgoury, but you may be better off with something less consipicuses.

Also, be ware of being drunk in the back of the van, In some countrys you can be done for drunk driveing even if you are asleep in bed!
Under no sercomstances should you start the engine, in fact best not even have your keys on you, if asked so you lost them somewhere and your going to look for them tomorrow.
