Drivig On a U.K Licence

    How long can drive on a U.K Licence in Ireland ,

    My uderstanding was for ever but I bee told its only 6 moths if you are permanent resident.

    You can drive on it until it expires which is 2055 on my license, You will need to renew the the actual card itself after 10 years to undate the photo etc but once you have an address to use in the UK that wont be a problem and if you are still around when it actually expires then you can just renew it to a UK address.

    Ignore anyone who says you have to exchange your license as they are taking rubbish. All EU licenses are equally valid in all EU countries.

    One more question driving ona a U.K plate car , is that allowed

    If yes how long.

    And do you still need to pay VRT

    Have you just moved back form the UK? If you have just moved back you can drive on the UK plate for around 6 months legally after that you would be technically not allowed to drive it but with a UK license etc you should be ok.

    Also if you have lived in the UK for more than a year and owned the car for more than six months over there(and can prove it) you will be able to register the car here VRT free, the only catch being you will not be able to sell the car for a year from the date it is registered. I did this with my car a few months ago and once you have proof of living in the UK etc it is a simple process.
