    hey guys,

Does anybody know where i can actually go and practice a few balls but get accurate reading of distance per club. I need to get a accurate reading. Most Driving range places i have known in the past are dodgy in terms of distance!!
I'm in the south Dublin/north wicklow region

you could book an hour or 2 on a golf simulator drving range.
bring your own balls and clubs.
Hit 20 solid shots with each club and get an average distance as a reference.
Have tried this one and it's prety accurate.

Unfortunately you won't get an accurate reading on distances at a range. They use very compressed balls which typically carry about 20% less in distance.

Really? I normally get much more distance on the range.

Is it true though the distances are not accurate to compensate the fact that balls arent as good?

I was in a new range recently and I was wondering how I was hitting the back fence without the ball landing when the "250" marker was short of it. Asked the owner and he admitted the distance of the range was about 240 yards!!

So the quality of the ball actually travels 20% less on the range, blimey that tells me that i can reach the 300 yards with a quality ball if i can hit a range ball at the 250yard marker!!! Interesting!!!!

MetroGolf probably a bit out of my way, really!! Thanks anyway!!:)

Do you remember how much this cost and what you were paying for? i.e. an hour, specific facilities, per ball?

My average drive at the local range would be around 250m (approx 275 yards). I have even driven past the back 300m mark. The range is slightly uphill too.

No way I drive that far on the course.... sometimes with the wind and a downhill fairway I might get to 300y.

This also applies all through my clubs. Hit them much further at the range.
EDIT: Used to be the same in the previous range I used. I had always thought it was because the range balls flew further. Obviously not.

Fckers must be setting them short to make people feel good about driving there
