Larry, sorry this is off topic but are you running sats for the 'Ladbrokes Midlands Poker Open 2009 Athlone 28/29/30 August'?

I noticed the Westbury has reserved seats for this event and was wondering if they are for sats.

Would be interested in playing some sats (hopefully just the one ;)) for this event.

    Cheers.

There's room for a decent regular omaha tournie in Dublin, but i dont like the 2 rebuys and 1 top-up for €10. It will feel more like an allin fest and will take some of the enjoyment and play out of the game. Wouldn't knock it til i played it though so i might give it a go.

If this was 1 rebuy and 1 top up @ €20 each, i'd defo play.

    Hi Tony ,

Yes I agree ,this is only a new game for us .just testing the water really ,I would like to see a good omaha tourney established in the Club and Dublin with descent numbers !

I always follow up on the players demand and if this game will feel like a bit of an allin fest ,we can change the structure at any time for better!

Would be nice if you could make it tomorrow good advice and poker eye always welcome !

    Many Thanks Tony,

    Larry

we had 18 players in total ,it wasn't a bad start at all for a new Pl Omaha tournament on the North Side of Dublin !

Great feedback from the players !

Congratulation to Tony aka Flushdraw who took this down !
Armani second Latvian guy first omaha tournament ever!

Many Thanks to everyone who turned up!

Really enjoyed this..18 players managed to make a prizepool of €710. Took 6 hours to finish this! If this got a few more runners each week, Larry is all ears for tweaking the structure and improving the game.

It seemed to play out well as it was. There was over 300k chips in play with blinds 1/2k when we got 4 handed.

Cheers Larry for a good game and hopefully this tournie goes from strength to strength

Played this and was a very enjoyable game. Limped all night long trying to catch the monster that just wasn't coming. :(

Don't think the structure needs to be changed really, maybe add that level that was missing early. Only necessary change is to clarify the 3 rebuys @ 5k chips each or 2 and a top up @ 5k re-buy and 6k top-up and the re-buy at less than 500 chips, but these were only decided on the night. Well run for first time having a Omaha game - the dealers were getting a workout on 'pot' bets too :D

    Will donate again.

Well run for first time having a Omaha game - the dealers were getting a workout on 'pot' bets too :D

I was really impressed with the dealers. Nothing destructive to say about any of them. They all done a fine job keeping the game moving and no delay working out pot bets and split pots.

There was a couple of little things i think they can improve on though. I've only played in the Westbury 3 times so far, and i've noticed it on each occasion.

No-one seems to grab the tournament by the balls...there's no-one calling out when blinds are up or no-one noticing if players need to be moved tables for balancing. It's left up to the players and at one stage last week, we played 6 minutes on the old blind level as it wasn't announced.

When moving the BB to a new table, he was moved in directly on the BB. This meant players shifting around to make room for him. I dont think this should ever be done.

When we reach final table, the players that are already sitting at the "final table" remain where they are, and they just do a random draw for new players. I think all final table positions should be drawn randomly.

Players just LOVE showing their hands to everyone that wants to know while they are playing. Picking up each others cards etc. It doesn't bother me at all, i've just never really been involved in tournaments where it happens on such a frequent basis.

Tony ,In relation the tournament ,I am doing my best in relation the tournament issues ,the problem was that the previous tournament director did nothing about these things and players got to compfortable ,however I wil put the pressure on the new TD and the Dealers in relation to these issues!

Many Thanks once again to all ,

come on larry, sandis and omaha he should b a natural,he likes any 2 cards in holdem so the chance 2 play 4 cards in 1 hand he must b in heaven, even more chances 2 hit the flop with 2 cards and then 4 him to hit runner runner with his other 2,he must love it.ha ha.id say if he keeps progressing at this rate youll b sponsoring him 2 the omaha in the world series next year.

seriously though anybody out there looking 4 omaha tournie should give this game a go.great club with very friendly atmosphere.

hope this game really takes off 4 u lar.:rolleyes::rolleyes:
