Connect speakers

I'm wondering if there is a way to connect my 360 to a stereo. The 360 is connected via hdmi cable to my monitor, but the sound on my monitor isn't great. The only audio port it has is audio in.

I have decent speakers I used with my laptop, and I'd like to use them with the 360. I tried a usb sound card, but it didn't work. I have bought an adapter to use my gaming fatality headset with it instead of the the microsoft one, so I figured I can plug the system into that, but I was hoping for another way as I don't want to have to keep my controller on.

The only connections on my monitor are hdmi, vga and audio in.

Any help will be much appreciated. Cheers.

A two way Headphones jack and then stick one into the monitor and one into your stereo if it has a Aux in.

Oops, I meant to say audio in, not out, so I can't do that.

You need to get a standard 360 video cable (or the component one)

Then you need to break open the thick casing where it connects to console its self. You can pry it with a small screw driver, or you can put it on side (so its as tall it can be) and give it a few taps with a hamer.

Now insert both the HDMI cable and your bare video cable in at the same time( its a squeeze if you are using the component cable but it will fit)

Then plug the red and white sound cable into the AUX in of the stereo and enjoy. If you are using the component cable make sure you do not get the red sound and red video mixed up or you'll only have sound in one speaker.

If i havent explained it right let me know and I'll try do a better job, I've it done myself so I could even post up a few pictures!

Standard cable fits without taking off the covers, you need to break component if you have one

Thanks. I have all cables, but the component cable won't fit with the HDMI cable. Maybe that'll work. I could use the VGA connection and the component cable, but the HDMI is much better.

    Thanks. I might try that.

On another note, I was wondering if any of the HDMI switches include an audio out. Anyone know?
