Hello there -

I'm an author writing a fictional crime novel and am trying to find a solicitor to trade emails with. I have a few questions relating to Irish criminal law (specifically drugs) that I'm hoping to get some help with.

I can't offer much in return, except a generous "thank you" in the acknowledgements. The questions are relatively simple, such as what penalties exist for drug possession, at what point does possession become intent and where does Irish law stand on the subject of medicinal marijuana.
