Not actually quite sure how I feel about this. I love the first one but it's fairly standalone

I've been on that blogsite before. Some fanboy runs it. I wouldn't trust this news as far as I could throw it.

Empire seem to be confirming it too

    From the Empire link:
..alongside Cars 2 and Toy Story 3, could not be contained..
    Cars 2?! Are they serious?!

I love everything Pixar but loathed Cars.. it was absolutely woeful!

A curious choice of sequel, but in reality Pixar are a huge company as well and are unlikely to turn down the chance to make a couple of extra dollars. Imagine that is part of the reason Cars is getting a sequel too - massive merchandising possibilities! And in a sense Cars would be the one Pixar film that needs a sequel, and perhaps making the film the first one should of been (even though I don't think its quite as bad as everyone makes it out to be - may have lacked the typical Pixar magic, but still would rank it well above most of the other studios' CGI efforts)

Unfortunately your voice will not be heard amongst the millions of americans who paid to see it and bought loads of merchandise.:D

I don't get it either, I think it was aimed purely at the American audience.

I felt the first one was pretty 'meh', tbh. Not really bothered about seeing this, and yeah, I'm not even sure how a sequel would fit in with the first one anyway.

I liked the first one but don't think I'll have much to say about this film.

Regarding the reasoning behind Cars 2, from Wikipedia:

"Related merchandise, including scale models of several of the cars, broke records for retail sales of merchandise based on a Disney/Pixar film, with an estimated $5 billion in sales"

Sounds like the next generation on Boards.ie are REALLY going to look back fondly on Cars
