did the office where you signed on take a copy of your i.d when you signed on?

you may be able to get a copy of this from them if so

If you have a garda age card they may accept that as well

Well, I'd go into your local social welfare office and explain the situation to them.

They may give you a copy of the photocopy of your passport that they have, with a note officially stamped or something that says that you will have a new passport within a month.

They should be able to work something out for you in any case.
