Just thought I'd give this a quick bump before it slid off the second page and into oblivion.

This tourney is actually how I was recruited 2 years ago.

If you match the criteria at all it's deffo worth applying for. You have to do a 10 minute phone interview (which is just some straight-forward probability) and then you're in a tourney with about 25 players for 10 grand. Probably a few free beers as well.

There's no strings attached and no big speeches or hard-sell or anything like that. Feel free to PM if you want any more info.

Emmet02 AFAIK. I'm sure he won't mind me posting it here as he's mentioned it numerous times in other threads.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,789 ✭✭✭✭keane2097

Any idea what the payout was?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,039 ✭✭✭Theresalwaysone

Emmet won it. Got 3k I think they chopped it up.

Got the cheque a while later, has no hope of gettin the job though even though he is one of the smartest guys I know (not poker wise, poker wise he is a fish).

Did ya have to do the phone interview?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,512 ✭✭✭stevire

No never heard from them at until I got the email. Just said i had "strong background and excellent credentials, unfortunately we cannot proceed with your application at this time."

Only got my degree result last week and didn't pass on the results so maybe they couldn't go ahead with the application?

Can anyone tell me what the dress code is like for this tournament. Do people wear jeans, slacks, shirts etc? Thanks..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 396 ✭✭Shadowless

Jeans and a Hoodie and you'll be grand. It's all casual dress in the office there anyways.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7 On The Ditch

Thanks for you reply Shadowless. Are you sure that wouldn't be too casual? I'm interviewing with them as well and don't want to give off any wrong impressions seeing as it's partly a recruitment event etc. By any chance where you at the event before or are you working for SIG? Thanks..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 396 ✭✭Shadowless

Played the tourney couple of years ago. Definitely no need for slacks or a tie. By all means wear a shirt if you want. You're there to impress with your mad pokah skillz not your gok wan shoes.

Yep - I know RedJoker came third but beyond that I don't have any results...

Grats to JamieCarra on taking this down, and to RJ for the 3rd. I gifted Jamie some early doors from which I never recovered. Good fun though and enjoyable!

19 runners, the majority of which were truly abysmal. Tournament had to be over by 11.30 so as there were still 4 players left at this point it was settled by chipcount and my 25,375 was enough to scoop 1st place ahead of the 25,300 of 2nd place.
