Can't remember the title..

Trying to find out a title of a film I watched a couple years ago in class once. Must've been early 00's, maybe 2004, 2005 if I was still in school at the time, so either made then or before that. Thought it was Vacancy but I just watched that and it wasn't it. Similar theme, though, I think...? Not sure.

Anyway, all I really remember of it was a scene near the end, I believe, or at the end, where the guy who was arrested strangles the officer in the car with his handcuffs? They're driving through open country in one of those big state police SUVs, though the film was placed at a hotel or motel or something. One of those slasher thrillers. Could've been about snuff films like Vacancy.

Unfortunately my memory is far from the best so in all honesty that description could be from a few different movies that my mind has somehow managed to slam together.

Also don't remember if it was any good. It must have had some value though if I was watching it in class, believe it was a Media Studies class? So it was either filmed well (in terms of visuals) or directed well or.. something worth studying. If it wasn't in Media Studies like I remember then that theory's out the window.

    Any help would be great.

Yeah, I know, my memory's stupidly sporadic like that.

Did find out the name on my own though-- the flick's Identity. Thank god for the RottenTomatoes movie search engine, all I had to do was figure out the specific genre and the year and it found it for me. :pac:

I know the film youre on about I just can't think of what it is.

Both the Hithcer remake and Cellular keep popping into my head but in the Hitcher he cuts the officers throat and in Cellular it's not a cop that's strangled.

Edit: Yes Identity is the one that was going through my head. THink I may give the DVD a watch.

I like John Cusack but didn't think much to that film. I would never have got it from your description!!

It might actually be an ending to an entirely different film. It was so, so long ago and I've seen hundreds upon hundreds of movies since then it wouldn't surprise me if I got the plots of a bunch of different ones all mixed up. Either way it gives me something to watch as I fall asleep, doesn't need to be a fantastic flick to do that.

Figured the hotel/motel/slasher/snuff drops might've got some responses, how many movies are like that besides Vacancy and this one? Though I don't think Identity involves snuff references.

Eh, might as well go watch it now.
