    Exactly, the pro's use them to check whether their swing/equipment is in order. Usually Line one up at their feet and the other maybe and inch or two the other side of the ball.

    Here you can see Phil Mickelson uses them as well:

    They are alignment sticks I got some on ebay a while ago and they are great for practising...

    They are actually got in the likes of Homebase for driveways etc...
