Has anyone heard if they've received a postgrad award for next year?

Not yet, but I would imagine they would wait to see your results, most of which are about 2 weeks away give or take

I recieved my official offer of place to study two days ago. It is postmarked 5 June. The letter states that the PG scholarships are still under review. (Fingers crossed!)

I e-mailed the PG secretary, but could not get any further information.

Gileadi, which results are you talking about?

Thanks, to both of you. Very helpful.

And congratulations guinness123. I've been told (verbally) that I've been offered a place at Trinity. (Haven't been home to check my postal mail, so I hope something official is there!) I've also been offered a position and generous funding at Queen's, so I'm hoping to hear from Trinity soon so I can make some decisions.

I think "results" means academic "examination results." And I'm hoping that they do not, indeed, intend to wait until then, because they are not due until the last day of June and I've heard that they can often be delayed beyond that, here at Trinity! Mid July is a little late to make plans for September! Best of luck to you (to us all!).

Studentship places won't be announced until after final year results are out. As far as I can member thats well prior to the rest. 25th of June from what I recall. Maybe it will be sooner due to the early start back new years?

The dates for final year results depend on the School involved.

For example Chemistry gave the SS results out today.

Thanks for all this information. Does anybody know when the School of Histories and Humanities will announce their exam results?

Thanks dabh! But I am not a registered student of Trinity. (I've recently been offered a place.) So, I do not have access to local files.

guinness -- according to the PDF on the link above, some of the results for histories and humanities are as late as June 29, but most of the final year exams are promised by June 20.

It's a studentship. They pay your fees and give you 8 grand to live off. see here

The Director of Teaching and Learning at the School of Histories and Humanities replied my inquiry e-mail today. She says it will take them another two weeks to process the scholarship applications.

So the results will be announced in July at best, which is quite late especially for overseas students. :(

So they are only for applications from PHD students then??

I just found out that I didnt get the Ussher Fellowship, not that I expected to get it!! Haha! So that is obviously decided before exam results are out. Apparently there were 14 candidates... and I was ranked 5th :(

Did you get an email or a letter about it?

I know it's cold comfort where the funding is concerned, but 5th out of 14 in Engineering is quite an achievement!

Any news from TCD about these scholarships? It's almost the end of the month. This process has been so unnerving...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21 Jams O'Donnell

Nada. Nichts. Niente. Trinity clearly doesn't think it is competing for students who have other options.

    Hi guys,

I thought I'd let you know that the political science department made an offer to me this morning to join their PhD programme in September. Hopefully TCD will start getting around to everybody now.

What is the deal with a studentship? Is there a good chance of getting one if you got a first or would a 2:1 and a novel research proposal suffice? Or perhaps a masters degree is mandatory?

Well here's where I'm at. I got offered a scholarship but I haven't got my results yet, but if I don't get a first, it won't be far off it. I also don't have a masters degree. Just my undergrad and a research proposal that I pretty much just came up with off the top of my head. I must point out though that I had some guidance from my lecturer who helped me structure it. Your academic references would be key here aswell.

I got informed that the Civil Eng results for this should be out early next week, not sure about other schools/faculties though

For those who are interested - some of the studentships have been received in the post today (School of Natural Sciences anyway)
