Rental Property with Land in NI

    Hi,
I'm new to the boards but thought I would post in this section rather than the property forum because the situation probably requires a bit more insider knowledge than your regular renter.

I actually want to move to the the Republic, but due to EU scrapie legislation I can't do that just yet. What I was thinking of doing was meanwhile trying to find a place to rent in NI that will accomodate a few sheep and goats (Plus a couple of dogs) for the next year or so.

I've been trawling the net but only come across the usual EA sites relating to lettings and finding very few with a couple of working acres and when I do the houses are usually huge.

Could anybody direct me to areas/newspapers/property guides, where I would be more likely to find something to meet my needs?

By the way, I think the agri sections on this board are some of the most helpful and informative that I've come across in a good while.

Find where you want to live, then buy the local rag and look in the classifieds. Otherwise, contact a local estate agent.

That's my problem B&H - finding out local rags.
I'm a few hundred miles and 3 ferry rides away from Ireland at the moment and am finding it difficult to ascertain which papers are local to certain areas and usually places that allow animals are private ads rather than via an EA.
Been on DAFT and found a couple but the houses are massive (and I'm presuming the council tax will match!)

first of all, from experience - as a goat owner, many people will outright refuse to rent to goats, its sad but true. Had a lot of trouble myself, and i also know - that you need to have them close by, and renting away from where you are living is not an option as that is when accidents happen. We currently have ours on the half acre around the house, and spend a fortune each week on hay and meal. Your best bet might be to try and locate a cottage with a garden, and do some wooden sheds for awhile. Even use some trailers that can be moved.
