    Hi,

First off...I hope this is in the right forum...?

I've never used photoshop before at all. I'm just wondering, how easy is it to use? If I bought it, would it be easy enough to figure it out and get quite good at it?
Also, how much is it? Which version should I go for (if there are a few versions), and is it easy to learn how to use?

    Thanks a million :pac:

You can get a trial version. I think it lasts 28 days. There are plenty of tutorials online for free which I find very helpful.

    license is expensive indeed.

for me how i learned, well starting out anyway, was by using some of the online tutorials. That way i had a little project as such. I gave me something to focus on and i got some thing cool at the end of it. I was then able to take what i had learned and apply it else where.

This only got me so far and had to resort to more course based resources , that where more structured and this is what this does kind of thing. (Boring)

i did some of these tutorials for fun:
    http://ebin.wordpress.com/2007/03/21/how-to-turn-your-photo-into-movie-like-effect-using-photoshop/

    http://pshero.com/archives/comic-book-photo-effecthttp://pshero.com/archives/comic-book-photo-effect

    http://www.luv2help.com/videos/bloody-tentacles-effect

    http://www.steelfrog.com/good-and-evil/

i did all these with little or no knowledge of ps, i just found when i was starting and reading photoshop for dummies or what ever that i was board and this way gave me something to do, there was a lot of googling 'how to' at times but got some cool images done, andkept me learning till i was willing to go back to the boring theory so to speak :D

For me the hardest part was understading what i needed to do to an image, then working out how the layers interacted with each other, there are literally hundred of functions that are not in plain sight and you'd never knew existed lol , as the guy in the you suck at photoshop videos would say "you're only using €50 worth of photoshop" lol

Melekalikimaka, I guess I want to learn photo manipulation mainly. I want to be able to take pictures of people and merge them with other photos and backgrounds etc.

Calex71, thanks a million for all those links. I'll try out a few of those tutorials with the 28 day free trial that toe_knee mentioned.

Are there many courses available in photoshop by the way?

have a look over in the photography forum aswell, its under the arts menu.

I'm sure the nice people over there would be more than happy to help, as they would probably know heaps more on the subject.

    Thanks a million.

Would one of the moderators be able to move this to the photography forum, if possible, please? :)
