o2 network intrusion attempts

i wonder if anyone can give me some information or help me out here. last week i bought o2 broadband for my computer and whenever i'm connected to their network my computer keeps getting repeated intrusion attempts. they're all blocked by my security but the amount of them is kind of worrying, it's never happened with any network i've been on before.

doing a whois on the IP addresses i'm told quite a few of them originate from o2 ireland with an address in dublin as well as a telecommunications network in germany. i don't know enough about this kind of thing to be certain, but am i right in thinking that o2 are trying to look at my computer? cause if that's the case i really don't want to be on their network.

i can post some of the IP addresses up here if anyone would like a look.

has anyone had similar problems with intrusions on the o2 network??

No, it's probably not the case.

O2 probably perform some form of "keep-alive" or pingback request which contacts your computer at regular intervals to ensure that you're still connected to the network. Whatever firewall software you have is misinterpreting these as attempts to access your computer.

+1 on that. What security suite are you using? Must be hyper sensitive

The security suite is symantec I think. Thanks a million for the replies guys, they've made me feel much better. No need to switch networks or start ranting at O2 operatives. That's always a good thing.
