Hey, I was wondering if its a good idea to buy a used PS3 or is it too much of a risk if the console gets screwed and i'm better off spending the extra few to buy it new with the guarantee and all??

I'm a little stripped for cash but I don't wanna buy something for cheap only for it to later develop problems and then spend extra repairing it or throwing it away as junk...

    What ya guys think??

Personally I couldn't bring myself to do it.

If the guy had just bought it and had the receipt then maybe but otherwise you have no real comeback do you if it breaks?

I bought mine in Argos up North. Great deal at the time, 3 games with the thing for about 320e. Maybe consider that?

However I should point out that even then I am still living in fear of having to go back up North to exchange it or whatever if it breaks becasue there is a good chance Sony Ireland won't want to talk to me if they start asking for a receipt and I pull out a UK one.

^That looks like a brilliant price for it. All the one's i've been seeing here are around 400eur.
But you think the warranty won't cover all of europe??

Simple answer is I don't know. If I bring it up to Argos I may not get a new one on the spot and they may send it away. Worse still, if I had to send it to Sony UK and they get all technical and won't send it back to Dublin.

I have to say, I feel a lot less worried about it given I only ended up paying about 250e for it if you minus the price of the games. (two of which I sold xmas week for 40e a pop)

Actually I was looking around and if i buy from UK, i'ld be saving more like 50eur now. The exchange rate is creeping back up...

Guess i'll save the hassle and buy new from a store here or i could buy used from a store in here too... I guess that should be safer than buying it from some bloke i don't know...

I've bought used stuff online before but they're things that usually couldn't really go wrong. But with something like PS3 the chances of it going wrong is high and seems like quite a risk...

    Fix'd.

Have not heard of many PS3s going wrong within the 1yr warranty.

Very nice deal there, I have been mulling over getting a second-hand PS3 from Adverts.ie as there be many nicely priced ones floating about but a guarantee would be good too. Though I have had good luck with consoles so far, still have a working Xbox360 from 2006.

Whats peoples experience with them for consoles? Quick delivery? Any problems or extra costs with getting hardware to Ireland?
