    Hi

I have a dish and box and watch all the free to air channels on my tv. But I don't get RTE 1 & 2, Tv3 etc. Someone told me I could get a set of rabbit ears and just plug them into the TV and pick up the channels. Is this the easiest thing to do? I can't run cables or put up an external antenna etc. So any suggestions are welcome. Any particular brands etc.

    Thanks!

Kind of depends where you are and how close you are to your local main RTÉ transmitter.

Also depends partily on your TV, some regions (Clare for example) broadcast RTÉ on VHF which some UK sourced TV will not support.

An aerial on an upstairs windowsill or attic may do. A windowsill upstairs or downstairs facing the transmitter works best. You can fit a short extension cable as "on top" of TV is usually not the best place.

    What county/area are you?

See the thread on aerials. The Traditional "Rabbit Ears" are for VHF. Most of the population gets UHF (see picture here )

Digital tests have started and the service should launch this year. In many cases this is a stronger signal and works better with an indoor aerial. You usually need a setbox (don't buy one yet).
