I posted about The Chaser in another thread, but I think this deserves it's own thread. It's a South Korean Serial Killer thriller. I loved it. It's extremely gripping, bleak, hard to watch in places, but overall one hell of a film. One of the best of last year for me.

There's currently a remake in the works, with Leonardo DiCaprio, so try to see this one first! ;)

I saw this myself last year and loved it, highly recommend is for anyone even if they think Asian(lazy way of saying subtitles) aren't their thing. It's well paced, genuinely shocking in places and original.

I'd like to know what people who've seen it think of it being remade? I think a remake could work if they change the setting to the maybe the 70's because
if it was set in the modern day surely with modern technology they could have the phone tracked or use a lie detector or DNA analysis. I think European and American audiences have seen enough CSI to ask why they aren't doing it. But I could just be crazy

Definitely worth a look and was in my top 5 films for last year.

Yeah saw it in the cinema and thought it was a refreshing thriller. A strange film for sure (considering a whole segment in the middle is a genuinely funny black comedy and then suddenly changes gear to a really, really dark thriller) but one of the most original films of last year.

Watched this lats night based on this thread. Good movie but 1 gripe about
how the police are portrayed as complete and utter idiots, not the actual letting him out part but the slapstick scenes where they are trying to restrain someone. Fair enough it could happen once but everytime theres a struggle i feel even with 50 vs 1 the 1 is going to win vs the keystone cops.

Always know your watching a good korean movie when you see a hammer :D
