Bin Collection query for tenants

Me and the OH moved into a new place just over a month ago and when we moved the two wheelie bins outside were full. Despite asking the landlord to arrange to have them emptied so that we can use them he has still not done this.

OH says that it's up to the landlord to pay for refuse collection and this costs €10 a week. Can anyone confirm this? So far we've disposed of a months worth at our own expense.

Its up to the tenant to pay for their own refuse.

It's up to the landlord to pay for the lifts of the bins of previous tenants, as this should have been settled prior to you moving in. All outstanding bills should be cleared by the previous tenant.

The landlord can't arrange for them to be emptied, you just have to leave them out for collection, and say to the landlord that it's his charge.
