Hi all any help appreciated I have an inspiron laptop that was working fine until today .
When i switch it on, the screen says " configuring updates stage 3 of 3-0% complete ,do not switch off your computer "
I left it running for an hour and its still the same .Its a wireless connection ,2 other computers on the same system working fine. Its running vista ,one other laptop is on vista too and a desktop is running windows xp
I'm just a home pc user ,know a little but need a bit of help . Thanks

emm.. its a vista right? well its just installing normal updates such as updates for the operating system etc etc.. bu it had not progressed in a hour right? well sometimes the progress remains at ''0'' and just before its complete the precentage knocks up quickly.
either that or it froze while trying to update. seems to happen dells alot. ( from past and present experience )
you should check in the update center of your computer to see whether or not these updates were actually installed!
fell free to email me if u cannot solve this, i will try my best to help you.

ok well if thats the case and its like that for a long while i would chance restarting it. because if something is lost say updates they can be recovered again either through the update center or bu running system restore and they will in stall again. but when the screen is green and the curser is turning in circles, this is what it normally does when downloadind updates! but it can take a long time sometimes and if it hasnt been updated in quite a while it will take even longer. if u dont wanna power off the laptop just leave it over night and it should finish and power it self of after. either that pr it will power on to normal home screen. depends upon if u were turnin it on or off

one of the updates is conflicting with a driver causing it not to boot you wont get past this screen, try restoring to a another point , if no joy google problem lots of people have had it, if no joy with google a reinstall ,good old vista
