Anyone here ever fit one of the above--1996 Fiesta.Failed the Nct today on a wishbone bush,2 antiroll bar bushes and a perished brake pipe.

Ive done the roll bar bushes and the brake pipe but the wishbone bush looks like a bit of a nightmare to do.

The factors where I got the other bits reckon its an easier job to change the wishbone itself rather than do the bush since the bush is pressed in.

Price wise the bush is 12 euro and a wishbone is about 80-90.

Dont really want to put another 100 quid into this bucket--just need to get it through the nct as cheap as possible.

    Cheers.

AFAIK Wishbone needs to be removed, the old bush pressed out and the new one pressed in with the aid of some lube :p. If you wanted to try the job with an old socket, a vice and some imagination by all means go for it

To be honest its probably far easier just to buy replacement wishbones with the bushes already pressed into them, rather then going down the whole route of getting new bushes pressed into the old wishbones.

I did the same on ebay and got a pair of wishbones with all the bushes and new balljoint for under 60 delivered.

Sounds like a pain to change the bush alright.Think Ill just buy the wishbone so.

It is a job you can do yourself, if you have some basic tools.

Good set of sockets, lump hammer and pry bars. Take about an hour or

    so. Good luck.

How about checking at a breakers yard for the wishbone? I know its probably not ideal but if you just want it to get you through your NCT chances are they'll have one that will do the trick.

Fair play to you on doing the work yourself. A man after my own heart. Given the prices garages charge....its just extortion.
