CV question: weak degree

    Hey folks,

Just a quick question for ye

I've just gotten my exam results and passed everything, so assuming nothing changes I should qualify with a 2-2

Not exactly stellar, but I'm happy nevertheless

Anyways, on my CV, what should I say? Should I divert attention from the poor classification?

    eg. "...Honours degree in..."

Or maybe "...second class honours degree in..." (it is a second class honours -- but it's a grade 2 rather than 1 :))

Any suggestions? FWIW I don't plan on seeking employment in the area of my degree (for a career, anyway), so it might not be TOO important.

    Thanks for any thoughts

I'd just say "B.Sc. 2009". If it was a 4 year degree (or does that count anymore?) say "B.Sc. (Hons) 2009"

Some companies will ask for results breakdown, or further details during the interview, others won't bother. As it's your first job they might ask about subjects studied, what was your favourite, what did you do best in, etc.

Exactly, just that you have a degree, the institute you received it from, the year and if you like the subjects.
Most don't care and won't ask and those that do you probably won't want to work for if they base a person's quality on exam results. :D

there's nothing wrong at all with your degree. the only thing you may find is in some jobs at graduates they say only first class honours only.
other than that though you'll have no problems.
i have a similar degree and can't remember in any interviews anyone remarking on my results

That's exactly how to do it. I was never asked for a breakdown as such when I was looking for jobs when I was starting out. Now that I'm working for over a decade, my degree is pretty much a footnote. Unless the degree is a pre-requisite for a job, most employers look at your degree as showing you have a few braincells and were smart enough to go to college.

I have millions, but they're mainly centring around "Why am I still working at this hour?" and "What will make my head stop hurting?"

Or were you looking for general thoughts about your CV? :D
